Visa process in New-Zealand

NZIS is the only agency of the New Zealand government which is responsible for migration and entry in New-Zealand. You require student visa to do a course for more than 3 months.

There are certain requirements to study in New Zealand that every international student must meet.

For a student visa, you should have an offer of a place from New Zealand education provider. The offer must have the following-

  • The name of the course you want to study and minimum time required to complete it.
  • You must have the proof that the course and course provider meet new-Zealand’s standards for international students.
  • The complete course fee and the annual fee if the course exceeds more than one year.
  • How would you like to study fulltime or part time?

One of the most important things is that the course must be approved by the New-Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

Health and character

You must meet health and character requirements which should prove you have a genuine intention to study in new Zealand.

Evidence to prove you have funds to support yourself

This is an important requirement; a student should prove that he has enough finance to support his education and other expenditure till the time he is in New-Zealand. This may include the following things

  • Enough money held by you in new-Zealand.
  • An undertaking by another person to bear your accommodation and living cost in new-Zealand.
  • Financial assistance available to you under aid programs operated in new-Zealand by a government agency.

Course less than nine months

If your course program has less than nine months duration, then you need to show you have access to the following –

  • NZ$1000 for each month of your stay
  • NZ$400 for each month if your accommodation is already paid
  • A letter from your education provider stating that your accommodation and living costs are included in the package you have already paid for.

On the other hand, if your course lasts for more than nine months, you will need to show the following-

  • NZ$10,000 per year to cover your costs during your stay in New-Zealand.
  • You also need to prove that you would leave the country as soon as your course gets over.
